Welcome!

Welcome to our Collie Farm!!

Cascade Mountains Collie Farm

The Cascade Mountains Collie Farm is located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range in Washington State.  This picture at the top of the page was taken in our neighborhood.   Our love of collies is what inspired  us to start our farm dedicated to the care and nurturing of collies.

Hello and come on in

Thank you for visiting our collie farm.  Please feel free to stay awhile and look around.  We have many beautiful pictures of our collies and some great stories to share about their care and development.  Our interest in collies started many years ago, not long after my husband and I were married.  We found our first collie at a no kill shelter in Spokane, WA called Spoke-Animals.  He was actually a collie/sheltie mix named Max.  He was a mostly sable colored dog with a white collar.  He was smaller than an average collie due to his sheltie genes.  Max was a very smart, special dog.  His favorite game was Frisbee and when he was young he would play for hours.  We could hardly get him to rest he was so crazy about it.  (ha)  He had real manners and was a gentleman.  Max knew every word a three year old child knows and maybe even more.  Max was our first baby, having been born even before our first child.  He grew up with our kids and was always happy to play with them and the  first to protect  them when needed.   Our dear friend Max passed away a few years ago at the age of 15.  He lived a long, healthy life for a dog his size.  He is sorely missed.  Our house has not been the same since he went to live in Heaven where he belongs.

Dandy (Indiana's Dad) came to visit this week - Here with Gandalf (center) and Indiana (right)

After Max we could not imagine ourselves owning any other breed of dog other than a collie.  He showed us what incredible dogs they are.  Collies are know for their loyalty to their masters, their love of children, and their fierce protection of their people and their charges like other animals and children.  They are gentle and kind, loving and easy to please.  Friendly and playful.  Attentive and smart.  What more can you ask for in a dog?

We currently own two purebred collies.  Indiana, our female, tricolored, rough collie.  She is nine months  old now.  We also have a younger collie named Gandalf who is six  months old now.  He is a white,  rough collie with a blue merle head.  They are both gorgeous dogs.

A Dog and a Kid

"No one will invent and no one ever did A happier pair than a dog and a kid.  For doubt can't bedim nor can worry befog the gay zestful way of a kid and a dog.  Athrob with adventure, their hearts beat as one.  Their pulses resurge with the rhythm of fun.  They swing into action as impulse may bid. "Today is the day" for a dog and a kid.  Oh God, clear the pathway along which they jog and smooth out the bumps for a kid and his dog.  And make of the world that they wander amid a place truly fit for a dog and a kid  "
